This training is open to both CYP and ACS practitioners - Suffolk County Council staff; private, independent and voluntary organisations.
This course is based on our learning from Kevin Campbell and his Family Finding approach which is based on the core belief that ordinary people grow up and are safe, well and have a sense of belonging because they have people who are naturally connected to them and who care about them.
The SOS mapping begins with developing the genogram – This is already part of the SOS approach, so what this course brings is learning that will deepen your practice and thinking, and offer techniques to support your work in finding and developing sustainable networks for the children and people we work with.
A key element that Family Finding has contributed to our thinking is the idea of networks as healing – Services tend to focus on people who can be useful in helping while the ‘case is open’ and do not consider collaborating with a broad range of people to build lifetime networks with the people they work with, this course challenges that thinking and gives you tools to work differently.
