Confidence With Difference, LGBT+ Awareness of Older People in Social Care. **FREE twilight learning session, Ipswich**

In collaboration with Opening Doors, London and Social Work Voices, University of Suffolk.

This free twilight learning session ensures all are abreast of the current issues, able to meet legal requirements and are more confident providing personalised care and support to older LGBT+ people.

Many social care professionals still feel that as long as they are ‘treating people equally’, knowing that an older person is LGBT+ has little relevance to the quality of care provided. But research demonstrates that the difference in the lives of this marginalised and previously criminalised group of older people has significant effects on their mental health, safety and security which social care professionals need to be alert to if they are to comply with the 2010 Equality Act and 2014 Care Act.
